Virginia Chaplains Association
The Virginia Chaplains Association (VCA) is an inclusive professional organization open to all ordained and/or ecclesiastically endorsed persons who serve as chaplains, pastoral counselors, or spiritual caregivers (full, part-time, or volunteer in any institutions or industries within Virginia. Its focus is education, nurture, networking, and advocacy. Established in 1990 through the efforts of a steering committee of pastoral caregivers, VCA was structured similar to its counterpart in North Carolina. The Association has elected officers and functions with an executive council and appropriate committees.
Officers include: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Committees include: Membership, Advocacy, Communication, Auditing, and a Historian.
Professional membership is on two levels: full (chaplains, pastoral counselors) and associate (pastors, students, etc.) Members include those serving in hospital, nursing home, prison, hospice, industrial, military, and other settings. Nominal annual dues offset general operating costs and supplement the fee for the annual conference-- a time for continuing education, sharing experiences, networking and fellowship.
